Lactometer for Milk
Quevenne Lactodensimeters for precise measurement of milk density.
Range 15–40 (1.015–1.040 kg/m³). Available with or without integrated thermometer.
| Graduation: 15 - 40 |
Quevenne lactodensimeters are designed for the precise determination of milk density, an essential parameter in quality control and the detection of possible adulterations. Their use allows for evaluating the purity of the product, identifying variations associated with dilution or alterations in its composition.
Operation is based on the principle of flotation: the instrument is introduced into a liquid sample contained in a cylinder, and the reading is obtained at the point of intersection between the liquid's meniscus and the graduated scale. The greater the density, the less the immersion depth of the densimeter.
These devices feature a Quevenne scale with a range of 15 to 40 units, equivalent to densities between 1.015 and 1.040 kg/m³. Each division represents an additional thousandth relative to 1.000 kg/m³, allowing for a direct and precise interpretation of the measured values. This range is optimized for milk, whose usual density is between 1.028 and 1.034 kg/m³.
They are available in two versions:
- Standard model: 215 mm length, suitable for direct density measurements.
- Model with integrated thermometer: 290 mm length, incorporates a scale from 0 to 40 °C with 1 °C divisions, allowing temperature control during the analysis.
Both models are calibrated at 20 °C, so, when working at other temperatures, it is necessary to apply the corresponding corrections to ensure the accuracy of the measurement.
Manufactured from resistant glass, these instruments offer reliability and durability in laboratory and agri-food control environments. For optimal results, it is recommended to use appropriate cylinders and work with bubble-free, settled samples.
These lactodensimeters constitute an essential tool for quality analysis in the dairy industry, control laboratories, and research settings.
