The borosilicate glass 3.3 filtering crucible is an essential component in filtration and analysis processes within the laboratory, designed to offer precision, stability, and resistance under demanding conditions. Its manufacture in accordance with DIN 12348 and ASTM E 438 (Type 1, Class A) standards ensures reliable performance both chemically and thermally.

The structure integrates a sintered glass filter plate, available in different porosity grades, which allows for the effective separation of solid particles in liquid or gaseous media. This configuration ensures homogeneous and reproducible filtration, suitable for qualitative and quantitative applications.

The material, based on borosilicate glass 3.3, has a reduced thermal expansion coefficient, which minimizes internal stresses and allows its use in drying ovens or thermal processes up to 500 °C, provided the temperature increase is done progressively. However, direct exposure to flame or abrupt thermal changes is not recommended, especially in fine porosity models, where tensions may be generated due to internal pressure differences.

From a chemical perspective, the glass offers excellent resistance to water, saline solutions, acids, and bases commonly used in the laboratory, maintaining its structural integrity even after repeated use cycles. However, contact with hydrofluoric acid and concentrated alkalis at high temperatures should be avoided, as they can compromise the stability of the material.

To ensure reproducible results in gravimetric analyses, it is recommended to dry the crucible in a range of approximately 110 °C to 150 °C until a constant weight is reached, as well as maintaining proper handling during thermal processes.

Available in multiple volumes and porosity grades, this filtering crucible adapts to a wide variety of applications in analytical chemistry, quality control, research, and sample preparation, consolidating itself as an indispensable tool for high-precision filtration procedures.
