The wide-opening Erlenmeyer flask is a laboratory container designed to facilitate the handling, mixing, and heating of liquids, especially in processes that require easier access to the inside of the container. Its wide-neck design allows for easy introduction of samples, reagents, or auxiliary elements, improving operability in tasks of preparation and transfer of substances.
Manufactured from borosilicate glass, this material offers high chemical resistance to water, saline solutions, acids, bases, and common organic compounds, maintaining its stability in a wide variety of applications. It presents limitations only against hydrofluoric acid and, under high temperature conditions, against strong bases or phosphoric acid, which must be taken into account in specific uses.
Borosilicate glass is characterized by a low thermal expansion coefficient, which gives it excellent resistance to thermal shock and allows it to work at temperatures up to 500 °C without compromising the integrity of the container. This thermal stability makes it suitable for processes involving direct heating or controlled temperature changes.
It complies with international standards for chemical resistance, with a hydrolytic resistance classification of class 1, high acid resistance, and adequate behavior towards alkaline media, which guarantees its reliability in demanding environments. Its composition, based mainly on silica and stabilizing oxides, provides a robust and durable structure.
Available in different capacities, this flask adapts to multiple laboratory needs, both in research and teaching, offering a practical, safe, and efficient solution for daily work with liquids and chemical preparations.
