The 1-liter capacity borosilicate glass Imhoff cone is an essential instrument for determining settleable solids in liquid samples, commonly used in environmental analysis, water control, research, and teaching laboratories.

Manufactured in compliance with the DIN 1267 standard and produced in the European Union under CE certification (Simax brand), it features a conical geometry that promotes sedimentation and allows for accurate reading of the deposited volume. It is made of transparent borosilicate glass 3.3, which offers excellent chemical resistance to water, saline solutions, acids, and most organic solvents.

The graduated scale, screen-printed in white according to the Swiss system, allows for detailed measurement: from 0 to 5 ml in 0.5 ml increments; from 5 to 20 ml in 1 ml intervals; from 20 to 100 ml in 5 ml steps; and from 100 to 1000 ml with 50 ml divisions. This distribution ensures accurate reading in both small volumes and upper ranges.

Its approximate dimensions—a top diameter of 118 mm and a total height of 470 mm—facilitate handling and stability during the test. The material has a low thermal expansion coefficient, which gives it stability against temperature changes and extends its service life under intensive use conditions.

Borosilicate glass 3.3 maintains its integrity against most chemical agents, although it can be affected by hydrofluoric acid and, at elevated temperatures, by strong bases. Its high transparency allows for clear observation of the sedimentation process, improving accuracy in reading results.

This cone constitutes a reliable and accurate tool for sedimentation tests, providing reproducible results and facilitating quality control in water and other liquid analyses.
